Theme Analysis:
A central theme of Maximum Ride, by James Patterson, is people will be nice to you until they betray you.
I know this because, the kids trusted the wrong people.
Trusting the character Jeb Batchelder was not a good thing for the kids. Jeb Batchelder is a person that worked at the “school”, and helped all of the kids get out of the “school” and put them in a safe area. But then the people from the lab called Erasers fought the kids and took Angel. Then after Angel got taken, the kids decided to go after Angel. But they all get caught and put in cages in the Laboratory. And this is why you don’t trust people that you think are good people because they can betray you just like how Jeb Batchelder did.
Another reason is, getting chased because of trusting the character and getting captured.
If they did not trust Jeb and escaped a long time ago without him they would not have been betrayed. And taken into the cages to be captured. The good things that the characters did were, how the kids were smart to break out Angel because they got captured, and then they were smart to get the keys and escape with Angel. I know this because,
The good thing caused the reward because the kids got captured. But they got Angel out by making Ari mad so that he would bang the cages into Nudge’s to get the keys from a Lab Worker. Then they all escaped but Jeb said it was a test but Max did not care. And the flock left. This shows how the flock worked together to get away from Jeb who betrayed them.
Another reason is, they all escaped with Angel and they left the “school”.
I know this because, if they did not get captured and try to escape they would have been stuck in there to be used as test subjects for the lab assistants. I know this because one of the members saw another bird kid die because they got tested on so badly that they died.

My MOTIF is Betrayal because when they trusted Jeb Batchelder they got away for awhile until Jeb came with Erasers to take them back to the School which is just a laboratory in disguise. And my theme is people will help you out until they find a way to betray you.
