Letter to Families

Dear 6th Grade Families,

I am thrilled to be your child's Language Arts teacher! My goal is for your child to leave Park Maitland feeling confident not only in his or her abilities as a reader and a writer, but also as a school leader equipped with the study, research, and time-management skills needed to become successful in life.

A little background information about me: I attended Park Maitland myself, and I am well-qualified to teach both Reading and E.S.W. I have a Bachelor’s Degree from Swarthmore College, a Master's Degree in Elementary Education from The University of Pennsylvania, and a Specialist Degree in Language Arts and Children's Literature from The University of Florida. At The University of Florida I taught undergraduate and graduate courses in both of these areas. In addition, I worked as a Reading Specialist in a public school in Wellington, Florida prior to coming to Park Maitland in 2007. This will be my thirteenth year teaching 5th and/or 6th Grade Language Arts at Park Maitland. I am clearly passionate about teaching English!

I want to impress upon you the importance of communicating with me throughout the year. I can be reached by e-mail: ekeckley@parkmaitland.org or cell: (407) 619-9370.

I look forward to a fabulous year with you and your children!

Warmly,

Erica Keckley
