7th & 8th Grade Students
Please make sure that all players complete and submit the following forms to Athletics prior to tryouts:

8:45-9:00 Arrival and Check-in
9:00-9:05 Welcome
9:05-9:10 Warm-up/Stretch
9:10-9:50 Fitness (Strength, Cardio, Plyo)
9:50-9:55 Break
9:55-11:00 Volleyball Skills (Pass, Set, Attack, Serve, Serve Receive, Rules, Team Building, Games, etc)
11:00-11:10 Cooldown/Stretch
Equipment Needed:

What are the expectations of Parkland Volleyball?
All athletes that are part of the OMS Volleyball team represent Parkland Volleyball throughout the school year. Athletes are expected to be behavioral role models and maintain good standing in their academic status - as citizenship and academics are valued higher then superior athletics.
How large of a commitment is playing volleyball or any sport for OMS?
All athletes are expected to attend all scheduled practices and games. Practices are daily on non-game days starting the 3rd week of August when school is in session. Games begin during the 3rd week of the season. Please make sure you understand this commitment prior to trying out for the team.
Who should tryout?
Anyone interested in playing volleyball. All skill and fitness levels are welcome!
How should I prepare for tryouts?
Over the summer, athletes may prepare for tryouts in various ways:
Stay active! Whether you play a different sport, work out, or do a combination, an active athlete will have an edge over others that remain dormant during the offseason. If you are looking for bodyweight exercises to complete at home, check out the resource section above.
Practice volleyball! Individually or with a friend, practice passing, setting, and serving at home... or gather a few friends and play a game in your backyard or at a park.
Attend a volleyball camp or clinic. Check out the resource page for opportunities throughout the summer.
Does everyone "make" the team?
That depends! While the team is capped at a specific number of players that can be carried on a roster, there are opportunities for individuals that did not earn a roster spot to still engage in the sport. With that said, players that are great listeners, amazing teammates, have positive attitudes, and are hardworking will definitely catch my eye as I evaluate all players on the court.
When will I know if I am on the team?
At the end of practice on Wednesday.
Important:
Only players cleared by the Athletic Office are eligible to tryout. If your name is not on the list provided by Parkland Athletics , you cannot tryout.
