For our Learning Challenge we interviewed the founder of learning challenge week - Mrs Batson. We did this because we wanted to find out why we do learning challenge week and how it works behind the scenes. We interviewed Mrs Batson and she explained that they did Learning Challenge Week at her previous school, "it teaches children skills that they cannot learn in the classroom, it also teaches creativity and problem solving" she told our reporters. Leaning Challenge Week is special as it creates an exciting end to the long, hard school year.
In our school, Learning Challenge Week has been happening for 7 years. People did judge her for bringing this idea to this school, some people didn’t want to take part in this; Mrs Batson stated that the biggest struggle during Learning Challenge Week was having some staff not wanting to get involved. She overcame this by doing the challenge anyway, and by festival day they enjoyed it so much that they did it again the year after and has been doing it ever since. Another challenge for the staff is getting the parents and primary school students to Festival Day as they are at work or the children are in their last week of school. Mrs Batson’s favourite part of learning challenge week is Festival Day when students show off their achievements that they have improved during the week.
I think that Learning Challenge Week is the most fun week of the school year and I think that this is important to us because no other school around Chorley does this also being in our own clothes shows our identity and uniqueness.
