For our learning challenge we were given the task of interviewing Miss Cree in her role overseeing the Cultural and Leadership passport.
We started by asking her to explain what her role was in Learning Challenge Week. She said that her role was to create and organise the Cultural and Leadership folders for years 7 to 9.
We then went on to ask her how it would benefit us as students. Her reply was “ It will give students lots of opportunities and help them develop new skills”. Miss said that employers look for cultural and leadership skills when employing new staff.
Her intention was to give lots of new and different opportunities to students that they would never usually receive in the school day. This folder will help students in developing themselves, contributing to the community and working with others. These skills will help in the job industry later in life. One of the tasks in the folder is to do something that makes you nervous. The intention of doing something that makes you nervous was to overcome your fears and get over the things that make you nervous, that you can aspire to do the things that make you nervous without getting as nervous as you usually would do. Finally, Miss Cree said that “I don't want students to feel like it’s work” but to see it as opportunities that will benefit you in the future.
“There was lots of organisation in the making of the folder.” The prefects and red ties helped in the development.
