Many people think that Germans can't speak english but some actually can. Infact, students are required to study English at the age of 9. At random, most people can speak a bit of English but not that much. Germans do actually make up some words, for example, they think that a projector is called a "beamer". They also sometimes change the meaning of some things in English. "Shooting" in english typically involves a gun and someone or something getting shot or hurt, in Germany they would use this word for photography. If they are shooting someone it would means think they are taking their picture. Germans also often use the word "make" a lot. Instead of saying "I will throw a party." they will say, "I will make a party". This might be difficult for English speaking people to understand. If you are a tourist in Germany, you will be able to find your way around, especially with Google!
