February 16th- No School, Presidents Day
This week, sixth graders have started to understand how resource availability affects the populations of different organisms. They are starting to appreciate the important role that each living thing plays in an ecosystem. Next week, we will examine different sustainable ways of farming.
We wrapped up our notes on solving algebraically. Next week we will take notes on inequalities and continue working on our algebra unit.
This week, we will begin our historical fiction unit. We will be using different historical fiction texts to practice comprehension, note-taking, and test-taking strategies. We will also be comparing historical fiction texts to nonfiction texts.
We are studying Ancient Rome and the transition from the Roman Republic to the Roman Empire. This week the students watched a Nat Geo documentary about advanced Roman technology and their dominance of the seas and trade.
