This week, students figured out that photosynthesis is the process of plants taking in carbon dioxide and water to make oxygen and sugar using the sun's energy. We played a "photosynthesis game" to model this process. Next week, we will tie this in the ecosystems and food chains.

We took notes on our adding, subtracting, and multiplying decimal rules using the standard algorithms. Next week we will take notes on how to divide with decimals. 

This week, we will begin our nonfiction unit. We will be using different nonfiction texts to practice comprehension, note-taking, and test-taking strategies. We will also be comparing nonfiction texts to historical fiction texts.

This week we have been discussing Colonial trade and the importance of different industries in New England, the Middle Colonies, and the Southern Colonies.
