Grandfather's Earrings

After getting irritated by the first pair, my mom gave me a new set of earrings. She told me to take care of them because they were special. I asked why they were special and important, and she told me it was because the stones in the earrings used to belong to one of my grandfather’s rings.

My grandfather on my mother’s side passed away before I was born, so unfortunately I was never able to meet him. He had this ring with a stone on it. After he passed away, it was decided that the stone in that ring would be turned into the stones for earrings These earrings were to be given to his granddaughters, also known as me and my sister.

This stone on the ring is special because it’s something that connects me to my grandfather. He wasn’t present in my life at all, so having a piece of jewelry that has something that used to belong to him with me gives us a connection of some sort. It is important because it’s something that had great importance to my grandfather before he died and was later on passed down and turned into earrings for me and my sister.

These earrings were significant for the period because my grandfather played a great role for my family on my mother’s side. It was a ring that was very important to my grandfather, now turned into earrings, is important to me and my sister as well. It’s purpose is so that me and my grandfather have a connection with each other even if we have never met. It is so something of his possession will be passed on in the family lineage.
