Each month we visit your student's classroom to deliver a lesson that is designed to promote their social, emotional and academic success. These lessons are typically 30-40 minutes in length, and cover topics such as school readiness, recognizing feelings of self and others, and problem solving. Our lessons are rooted in the Second Step curriculum, and are adapted to fit the unique needs of our students.
Students who could benefit from reinforcement of particular social, emotional or academic skills alongside peers may be invited to join a small group. Students who are coping with similar life situations may also be invited to join a small group of their own. Groups consist of 3-10 members and typically meet once a week for several weeks.
Any student who would like to discuss academic, social, or emotional concerns may speak to their counselor, teacher or parent about scheduling a check-in. Check-ins tend to be brief and solution-focused.
