Where will my child(ren) put their belongings?

In each classroom, children will no longer have a peg (due to safety guidelines) and instead hang up their coats on the backs of their chairs.

Belongings such as their school/book bag will no longer be needed - any items we send home will usually not be expected to be returned.

On PE Days, children should come to school in their PE Kits.

On rainy mornings, children should bring in a waterproof jacket - as umbrellas will not be allowed in school.

Where will my child(ren) put their bike/scooter?

Due to safety, we ask that parents/carers do not let their children bring in scooters or bikes, left at school. If using such transport to get in, we ask parents/carers to take them home.

Year 5/6 children are the only exception if they use bikes or scooters as methods to travel into school and are travelling independently. These can be stored (at a socially distanced spacing) at the bike sheds near the school hall in the main playground.

Can my child(ren) bring in their mobile phones?

Pupils in Year 5 or Year 6, who walk to and from school alone, can bring their mobile phone. They will be asked to place their device in a sanitised box within their classrooms where they will be locked away for the day.

Can my child(ren) walk home from school by themselves?

Year 5 and 6 pupils can walk home on their own with a written, signed letter from a parent/carer and we will update their end of day dismissal sheet.

How much homework can I expect my child(ren) to receive?

In Years 1-6, pupils will receive homework on a Friday, usually due the following Friday. We will however try to limit what we physically send home due to safety guidance and will not expect physical work to be returned for the same reason. Much of what we will set, will be done so online, with the use of our Google Classrooms, similar to how we have been providing work during the COVID-19 lockdown.

Reading, Writing, Maths and SPaG (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar) will be the main topics for homework, as these are the core areas of the curriculum and ones that require plenty of routine practice to improve.
