During Hispanic Heritage Month, the Visual and Performing Arts department honors and celebrates the tremendous contributions of Hispanic Americans in our city, nation, and across the world. Here is a sampling of some of the work students produced and performed.
In Introduction to Dance at Perth Amboy High School, for Hispanic Heritage month we learned the history of different Dominican dance styles such as Bachata, as well as the basic dance steps. Here is a video of a few students showing off their Bachata steps in a student choreographed dance!
Que Bonita Bandera at Dr. Herbert N. Richardson School - practice and performed rhythms, discussed cultural dances, and performed a salsa paired with Freddie the Frog and the Invisible Cocqui. Mexican Hat Dance - students practice and performed the rhythms of the dance; self evaluated their performance and added instruments (castanets) to the performance.
