Netsafe has put together some useful and timely information for parents around keeping children safe online during this lockdown period. We strongly recommend that you monitor and manage your child's online activity, in order to support their overall wellbeing in this time of uncertainty and stress.
It is natural that this challenging time may create stress and anxiety for young people. If you would like to organise for your child to speak with one of our School Counsellors during the time we are not at school, email the team:
Jane Kay (Lead Guidance Counsellor): jkay@papamoacollege.school.nz
Jim Browne: jbrowne@papamoacollege.school.nz
Grace Irvine: girvine@papamoacollege.school.nz
If you ever have urgent concerns about your child's mental health, contact Maternal, Infant, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services (MICAHMS) at Tauranga Hospital on 07 579 8380 or 0800 333 061. Their Crisis Team number is 0800 800 508. If it is an emergency, call 111.
Students have also been emailed details of a School Nurse Health Service that is operating while schools are in lockdown. Students are able to email our Nurse, Woody Vahey, at wvahey@papamoacollege.school.nz. They can also call a national freephone, confidential number that will be answered by a school nurse: 0800-515919
