About Esports
Esports is more about playing a game as a team with other teams, as opposed to playing a game as an individual. Are you new to esports and have never played computer games? There are many roles for you to get involved in, here a few:
Gamers: Responsibility to train, communicate, support each other, acknowledge good gaming such as passing, scoring, but also encourage each other when losing.
Hosts: Rotate at the end of each match. So there are always x2 on camera, and another x2 on stand-by waiting for their turn at the conclusion of the match. You need to be clear and articulate presenters, be good at making things up on the fly, without really following a script. Will need to learn the gameplay and understand the game/rules to be able to comment on the plays.
StreamlabsOBS: Use the StreamlabsOBS streaming interface to create 'scenes', manage the overlays for scoring, team names, host nameplates, displaying the tournament bracket, etc. This is a big responsibility and requires someone to spend a bit of time using and understanding the streaming interface (for this to be streamed to YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, or any other service for live viewing or watching back post-event.
Camera/Game Server: oversees the game management, by creating private servers under the custom game creation (Rocket League) and provides the passwords & log-in details for the gaming teams to join. Furthermore, this job allows them to join as a 'spectator' which then allows them to control the camera (which is then the video that is fed through StreamlabsOBS, and is what the spectators will see.
Tech Crew: Constantly running around/on stand-by with cables, advice, and knowledge to fix and problem solve any tech issues that might pop up.
