Certificate in Teaching Program is a special non-degree program intended to provide professional training to non-teacher education degree graduates professionals, or industry practitioners who decided to pursue a career in teaching. It is designed for individuals who have completed a Bachelor’s Degree in any field and who intend to teach elementary and secondary education level.
The program aims to develop and facilitate understanding of the
complexities of the teaching profession,
acquisition of basic teaching competencies,
skills for managing and monitoring student learning and
Critical, creative and caring attitudes and values towards teaching.
Specifically, it aims to:
Equip students with in-depth understanding and knowledge on the various concepts of teaching, teaching-learning process and holistic development of learners.
Enable students, demonstrate decision making and technical skills in preparing, selecting and developing instructional methods, strategies and techniques.
qualify students to pursue a license in professional teaching through the Licensure Examinations for Teachers (LET).
Program Requirements
1. The student has to satisfactorily complete the modules of the program
2. The student has to undergo one - month pre-service teaching (practicum)
3. The student must complete 18 units of course work distributed as follows
a. Cluster 1 - 3 units
b. Cluster 2 - 3 units
c. Cluster 3 - 3 units
d. Cluster 4 - 3 units
e. Cluster 5 - 6 units
(as per Professional Regulation Commission and CHED CMO No. 30 series of 2004)
4. The student who wish to include practicum in their official transcript of records can enroll practicum upon completion of the academic courses.
Speakers from different fields gives presentation that could contribute insights not only in academic but also in a real life situation/s.
