In accordance with Public Act 98-0560, signed into law in 2013, the Illinois State Board of Education has approved the award of the State Seal of Biliteracy for graduates of Illinois public high schools. The Seal of Biliteracy is part of a global program that certifies and recognizes students' foreign language skills with an official seal affixed to the student's transcript and diploma. It is recognized by companies, organizations, and governments around the world.
Benefits
Up to 12 semester hours of college credit guaranteed at any public university in the State of Illinois. All but two other US states recognize the Seal of Biliteracy and offer similar incentives.

Students who complete the Seal of Biliteracy will have vastly improved chances at competitive scholarships and admissions to the most selective colleges and universities in the US and abroad.
