Support students in their daily challenges
The advisor is the reference teacher when you need someone to help you with the daily challenges that you find in Middle School. Besides group sessions, advisors will have short individual check-ins with students throughout the year seeking to provide personalized guidance. The advisor will also help students to develop self-advocacy and self-confidence.
Build Student-to-Student Affiliation
The advisor has a key role to help to build student-to-student affiliation through the advisory sessions. We strongly believe in the importance of building community and a sense of belonging.
Energize and Re-engage
Social-Emotional Learning sessions aim to provide reflection over the school experience. This is also an important moment to build social connections among the students as well as between students and the teacher.
Class/group/student advocacy
The advisor has an important role in SRT meetings and in Conselho de Classe. The advisor is going to speak for their students and provide the grade level team with relevant information on how to improve our practices aiming to better support our students.
