Pūhoro STEAMM Academy

STEMM Programme

A long term pipeline to support Māori STEMM engagement and success from secondary school, through tertiary and into employment. The first phase of the kaupapa works collaboratively with schools to improve Māori student access to STEMM education. This programme involves a network of Kaihautū (navigators) who work directly with rangatahi both within school settings (weekly) and through termly one day experiential learning wānanga which are based at a local tertiary partner.

Pūhoro supports rangatahi across two critical transition points (secondary - tertiary; tertiary - employment) but including an array of supports and mentoring including industry supported endorsed microcredentials. The overarching outcome is to, through strategic partnerships, provide opportunities for rangatahi to pathway into high value careers in STEMM.

We currently operate in 10 South Auckland schools and keen to expand to support more schools, or connect with more staff within existing schools.

Engineering Young Māori Minds

The Engineering Young Māori Minds (EYMM) kaupapa seeks to provide one day hands on problem solving wānanga within the context of pūrākau and mātauranga-ā-iwi.

The following link explains more about the EYMM kaupapa from a partner and rangatahi perspective https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XZZ9xTz-NkA

We are keen to involve more schools in the EYMM kaupapa and interested to hear from schools who may be interested in participating in this one day annual event.

Really keen to partner with others across the network so explore potential ways we can collaborate for shared outcomes; learn from each other; and improve outcomes for our young people.
