AbOUT NAHS

NAHS is designed specifically for high school students. In 1978, the National Art Education Association (NAEA) began the National Art Honor Society (NAHS) program specifically for high school students, for the purpose of inspiring and recognizing those students who have shown an outstanding ability in art. The NAHS strives to aid members in working toward the attainment of the highest standards in art areas, and to bring art education to the attention of the school and community. NAHS applies to any student interested in photography, drawing, painting, ceramics, theatre and debate. NAHS is a way for students of all levels to come together and share their ideas and creativity! For acceptance into the society the following requirements must be met and the attached application must be filled out.


MEMBERSHIP REQUIREMENTS :

Section 1. Membership in this chapter shall be based upon art scholarship, service, and character.

Section 2. To be eligible for selection to membership in this chapter, the candidate must have been in attendance for a period equivalent to one semester in art in this school.

Section 3. Candidates eligible for selection to this chapter must be senior high school students in grades 10-12, and shall have a minimum average of 3.0 in Art Courses. This level of achievement shall remain fixed.

Section 4. Members may remain active during such time when there is no art on their class schedule.

Section 5. Attend Google Meets

Sections 6. Participate in club activities and fundraisers.

Section 7: Members must reapply each year.


If you fail to maintain an unweighted GPA of 3.0 (in your art classes) you will be placed on probation. If after one semester you are not able to bring up your GPA, you will be dismissed. If a student does not meet the following requirements than their application will be denied. NAHS requires that students fill out the attached application in order to earn a place in this society.If you miss two meetings without prior approval, you will be dismissed from the society. If a student completes the proper form by or before the due date the sponsors and president will review your application and contact you about your membership.
