Music Performance Assessments

District Music Performance Assessments (MPA) - Music Performance Assessment (MPA) events are sanctioned outlets for quality feedback on a variety of musical formats. Each FVA district manages at least two MPA events per year: Solo & Ensemble MPA, and Choral Concert MPA. All JHS chorus students are required to participate in choral concert MPA.

Solo & Ensemble MPA ($15 / $20 per entry for district level, higher for state level) - Spectrum and Warrior Women students are required to participate in solo & ensemble (students who cannot participate due to a conflict are still required to learn and perform their two solos for the class). Serenity students are not required to participate in solo & ensemble, but are highly encouraged to do so. This event allows small ensembles (duets, trios, quartets, and groups with fewer than 12 members) and soloists to perform for a judge, receive feedback, and earn ratings. Students who achieve a Superior rating will qualify to perform at the State level S&E event in the spring.

State Music Performance Assessments (MPA) - High school entries that receive an overall rating of Superior at a District MPA are qualified to apply for State MPA. At this event, students are evaluated by a highly select panel of adjudicators at a state-level adjudication.
