Boca Raton Community High School
by Ivete Chemin
My favorite was born in Queens-NY and she lived her teenage years in Vietnam’s war time. The Beatles were her favorite band. In 20’s she moved to Florida when it smelled like orange.
Today, with the smile and spirit of a child, she is the angel of a hundred immigrants who are full of hope to live in the USA.
Always patient, she receives immigrants like a mother, a sister, friendly and finally teaches more than English language. She introduces us to American culture, another way to see the world. Paying attention to each detail of our different countries, she shows us how to use our potential to adapt and obey the new rules we need to follow.
The subjects are chosen with great ability and emotional intelligence showing us like she takes care of our security and our behavior. She tells the history of America like the story tale and she shows us the feelings of gratitude for all the heroes, patriots, veterans honored them, making tributes. In the Pandemic day, she reinvented herself and gave us classrooms online, a moment glorious in black days, we joined moments of learning and hope.
Sometimes our reading is full of errors and accents, when we finish we hear: “good reading“! These sentences make us feel that we are not alone! We are the One! Walking in the park Gumbo Limbo, sees the butterflies park on one hot day. It's her great pleasure to join us.
All the days when we arrive in the classroom, we are sure that we will finish the day with better advice. Can you imagine arriving in one country no matter how old you are and meeting a person like Sima? Sima, you are irreplaceable!
