Rainforest from previous activity
Crayons (each student)
Pencil ( each student)
Scrap paper for warm up (2 per student)
If the rain-forest could talk it would say βI recycle water and make it pure and clean.β βI provide oxygen for us to breathe and I have been called βThe Lungs of the Planet.ββ βI provide delicious food, flavorful spices, and medicines that kill germs and fight diseases.β
Have students find the tree they drew in the rain-forest.
Have them draw a picture of themselves in or around their tree.
Keep and display the rain-forest.
3 pronged fork
Paper
Washable paint
1.Have students choose what colors & how many flowers they want to paint
2..Using the 3 pronged fork press firmly on the paint while making sure both the prongs and the base get paint.
3.Once you have created the flowers ,using your finger and green paint draw the stem and leaves.
All you need is chalk and some sidewalk space.
For instance: jump like a bunny x 3, hold tree pose on one side, walk on your hands and feet, jump on one foot, hold tree pose on the other side, jump on the opposite foot, twirl x 2, jump up and try touch the sky x 4.
This helps with kids who have a hard time thinking of things to do, or making decisions. Write different activities on Popsicle sticks. Let your kids choose an activity and then head outside. Make the activities easy to act on β go to the park for 15 minutes, water the plants, set up a water shooting range, pick a dandelion bouquet, draw something with sidewalk chalk. There are so many fun ideas!
1. Tear off a piece of duct tape large enough to fit around your childβs wrist.
2. Turn the tape sticky-side-out and wrap around his wrist.
3. Encourage your little one to begin sticking various colors of leaves on the tape as you walk around outside. Talk about what colors you see.
Colored card
Paint/marker pens/markers
Tape or glue
Scissors
Gift wrapping ribbon (I got ours from the dollar store
Hole punch
Pipe cleaner or ribbon
1. Decorate the card
2. When the paint had dried, we turned the card over and attached long streamers of ribbon to one of the long sides of the card. We used tape for this because it was quicker and less messy than using glue.
3. Then we curled the card round to make a cylinder and taped it securely.
4. At the top of the cylinder we punched two holes on opposite sides, and threaded a pipe cleaner through to make a handle. The girls took them outside and turned them into dancing accessories β the ribbons were fantastic as streamers!
5. After heβd finished with it I hung mine up on a bird feeder hook to catch some wind!
*Chalk.
*A bouncy ball like a soccer ,volleyball.
*Some space preferably concrete (your driveway )
With the chalk, draw a large square at least six feet wide and divide this big square into four equally sized small squares. Each of the four squares should be numbered 1 to 4 and should look like this:
Each player stands in one of the four squares.
To start the game, the player in square four serves the ball by bouncing it in their square once and then hitting it towards one of the other squares. The receiving player then hits the ball to any other player in one of the other squares.
The ball must bounce in another player's square, and they must hit it to another player before it bounces a second time.
A player may hit the ball before it bounces, if they choose to do so.
If a player hits the ball so that it misses another player's square, or fails to hit the ball before the second bounce after it has landed in their square, they are "out".
When a player is out, the other players move up to take their place, and that player moves to the last square, or to the end of the line, if there are more than four players.
The object of the game is to move up to and hold the server's position.
* At least two people β but the more the merrier.
*Open space (indoors or out β you just need to be able to fit all people into a line and leave about a meter before the line for the run-up and about 3 meters after the line to land and continue leaping).
The first child should crouch down and rest their hands on their knees. Younger children can simply crouch on the floor tucking in their head and feet. The second player runs up to the crouched child in front, placing their hands on their back and leaping over like a frog flying through the air, straddling their legs wide apart on each side.
On landing, this child immediately stoops down into the frog position so that the third child has to leap over the first and second, and then adopts the crouching position for the fourth player to leap over. When all the players are stooping, the last in the line begins leaping over all the others in turn.
