Pottery, ceramics, clay, what are the differences between these ancient materials and disciplines?
Clay appeared on earth long before living beings. It was therefore inevitable that humans would eventually begin to examine and apply their imagination to the abundant amorphous material. From these early tactile experiences, a rich showcase of objects, both crude and refine, has continued to be created showing the strides that humankind has made over tens of thousands of years. Because soft clay can be easily molded into any shape and then fire to permanency, it continues to be used as both a form of expression and a practical convenience.
