The Caring First application is an interactive tool designed to assist school mental health teams creating and documenting caring First referrals for student support. The Caring First doorways serve as the platform for identified school-based and community-based staff to document corresponding interventions. Use of the Caring First application for the documentation of referrals and services is required under the Mental Health Assistance Program, Fla. Stat. § 1006.041.
Caring First User Guide
The Caring First User's Guide provides direction for users to navigate Caring First Referrals, First Service, Service Documentation, and Technical Support.
The Caring First web-based application is used for recording services provided through the Co-Located Initiative. Its use is not intended for clinical information. Caring First provides a record of direct services to a student or school and services in support of the program. The fidelity of the initiative is monitored through the data that is captured by Caring First.

Information about a student's mental health diagnosis or treatment is extremely sensitive personal information. Pursuant to FERPA and Fla. Stat. § 1002.221, student records are confidential and exempt from the Public Records Act. That is, personally identifiable information contained therein, is confidential and exempt from Florida's Public Records Statutes. Any entity receiving personally identifiable information pursuant to a study, audit, evaluation or enforcement/compliance activity, shall comply with all FERPA regulations.
