Class Procedures
To provide a positive atmosphere in which all students and the group as a whole can achieve success, it is expected that all students will follow the rules and procedures of the group at all times.
Ms. Cranmer's Non-Negotiables
Use kind and appropriate language and actions.
Students will be respectful toward all other students, teachers, and guests at all times. Negative comments and/or jokes about another students will not be tolerated. We are all here to learn and improve.
Treat the room and materials with respect.
The music belongs to the district, not to the individual student. Students may take music home to practice and review, but it is expected that all music will be present for all rehearsals. Students should clean up after themselves and take care with any materials they are given.
No food or gum in the chorus room.
All food should be stored in students' backpack or locker before you arrive for chorus. The only food/beverage permitted in the chorus room will be closable containers of water. *There are serious food allergies within the music department. In order for everyone to be safe, this is a non-negotiable.*
Bring a charged Chromebook to class everyday.
We will be working on an Arts Process Journal throughout the year, so please make sure you have access to a charged chromebook in class.
Collaborate constructively with your section, Ms. Cranmer and the ensemble as a whole.
Be willing to try new things and learn what you don’t already know. Choose a positive attitude and persevere when things get tricky or tough.
Daily Routine
Students should retrieve their folder, music and pencil. Students should be in their assigned seats at the start of class. All other materials brought to class will be stored underneath their chair.
When Ms. Cranmer signals for warm ups, students should stand, end their conversions, and bring their focus forward.
We will be doing sight reading or improvisation every day. These exercises are meant to help us work together creatively and improve our music literacy skills. It is necessary that everyone participates to the best of their ability.
At the end of the class period folders will be returned to their appropriate spots. Students should look around their area and make sure they did not leave anything behind. Students will remain in their seats until excused by Ms. Cranmer.
