Assignment Expectations

Task: You will write a 5-7 page research paper on a topic of your choice during the Vietnam War era. You will then present your findings to the class in a 5 minute presentation.

Format and requirements: You will use MLA format. See specifics below:

• Use Times New Roman size 12 font
• Double space paper with a one-inch margin all around the page
• Do not double-double space between ¶s (i.e. do not hit enter twice)
• Indent the first word of a ¶ by hitting tab once
• You must have a 3 point thesis statement
• In your paper, underline your thesis statement, which must be in your introductory paragraph and restated in your conclusion
• Bibliography/Works Cited Page must contain at least FIVE ANNOTATED sources, one of which must be a book/print source and another which must be from a peer reviewed scholarly journal (with graphic organizer completed)

****Your America: Pathways to the Present textbook should not be used as a source****

• A minimum of SIX parenthetical citations within your paper, using at least THREE of your sources (we will go over this).
• Include your name, class, and date submitted in the upper left hand corner of your paper and a title underlined in the center of your paper.
• Number your pages with your last name before the page number
• PRESENTATION: You may present your topic to the class any way you see fit (poster, powerpoint, prezi, 3D model, handouts, video, music video, etc… possibilities are endless!!)
