COURSE SELECTION 2024-2025
Hey Juniors! It is time to request your courses for your SENIOR YEAR!! Here are some resources to help you plan your schedule
If you missed the Course Planning Webinar, you can watch it here
STEP 1 - PLAN YOUR COURSES
Review your PCHS transcript
Students' transcripts are available in the Infinite Campus student portal, under “documents”.
The "Credit Summary" grid lists completed courses which meet your graduation requirements.
Use the Course Planning Resources (below in grey) to enter courses taken and plan your future courses.
Explore course options and write out your plan
Print your planning worksheet here (This worksheet will be passed out in Pali Period classes in January.)
Use the 2024-25 PCHS Course Catalog and Course Offerings 2024-25 to research courses.
Discuss course selections with current teachers. Teacher recommendations are the strongest predictor of success.
Review your course requirements - RISING SENIORS
Must take a minimum of 6 classes
Required to take English and US Government/Economics. (Most students also take Math, Science, World Language, and an elective course.)
Complete any additional requirements which may be outstanding.
STEP 2 - SUBMIT YOUR COURSE REQUESTS
**NEW STUDENTS TO PCHS: REQUEST COURSES USING THIS LINK: New 10-12 Graders - Course Requests
CURRENT PCHS STUDENTS: Course Planning through Infinite Campus has ended. Your counselor will call you in during the Spring to review your course requests and make any changes necessary.
STEP 3 - SUBMIT THE GOOGLE FORM
Complete 2024-25 Course Requests Form to rank your elective choices. Use the same choices as you did in your course planner. In the event that one of your requests can not be scheduled, counselors will use these choices to complete your schedule.
You can also list any courses that are not available or any issues you have submitting your courses on this form.
PROGRAMMING TIPS:
Student's requests do not guarantee placement in the courses. Students are selecting their requested courses. Entrance to courses may be changed due to space, eligibility, and seniority, as well as graduation requirements. The Counseling Office will make the final schedule, using teacher recommendations, availability and course balancing.
The counselors will program courses requiring teacher approval (AP History, VAPA, Yearbook, Leadership, etc.), including athletic teams, after receiving lists from those teachers. Students will not be able to select those courses. Select an alternate if you are unsure of your status.
Students with specialized requirements, such as Special Education or other intervention courses, MAY see those courses already programmed and locked. They will be able to select any additional electives.
Students may want to select courses from each of the academic areas (English, Social Studies, Math, Science, World Language) each year to be most competitive for a four year college.
Students need to select both semesters of a year-long course (Biology A AND Biology B, for example). In most cases, both semesters will appear when you select the first semester.
Pay attention to rules. Some courses are limited to specific grade levels. Bolded courses are usually the most grade appropriate.
The academic planner will suggest the courses that are still required for graduation. Keep in mind that until the entire four years of courses are selected, the scheduler may say that you are deficient in Senior year courses, such as English and Government/Economics.
Students who are deficient by 30 credits or more MAY be automatically enrolled in courses through Pali Academy, and may have different requirements.
Students enrolled in Virtual Academy will work with their counselors directly to create their schedule. They do not need to select courses through Infinite Campus. Courses will not be available.
On-line, college, independent study and other outside courses which are in-progress are not included in Infinite Campus ALERTS
