Basketball is more than a sport. It’s more than just an activity, and more than just something you watch on TV. It’s exciting.
The adrenaline rush you feel when that ball swishes through the hoop. Swoosh!
The feeling you get when your favorite player is running with the ball, back and forth between their legs.
The feeling you get when that player falls to the ground and holds an aching body part.
The feeling you get when that player is in pain on the cold, hard court.
The feeling you get when that player stands up.
The feeling you get when the crowd cheers and claps.
The feeling you get when the stadium goes crazy over a shot.
This is the game of basketball.
My favorite player of all time has to be Wardell Stephen Curry II. He scores three-pointers like there’s no other man on the court. He plays like no one is defending him. He plays like he’s the MVP. Because he is the MVP.
Wardell is one of the most genuine NBA basketball players. He is the most unselfish person who has ever played on a basketball court. He goes out of his way to make fans’ days. He plays basketball for kids, for his faith, for his family. He plays basketball for charity, for fans, for Oakland, for California. He plays basketball because of the adrenaline.
Despite every obstacle in his life, he manages to hurdle over them and continue on being a shining star on the court. Stephen has had a ton of ankle problems throughout his basketball career. In his early career with the Golden State Warriors, he always got asked, “How are your ankles?” In 2012, he had a right ankle surgery. After 3 months in rehab, he said, “I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to play basketball again.” He continued with the rehab and was soon out on the court again.
Stephen Curry has worked very hard to get to where he is now. When he was younger, his siblings used to lock him out of the house, so he would go to his hoop and start swishing one shot after the other. Once there was no sunlight, he would go to the neighbors’ house and start shooting in their hoop that hung on the wall in their cattle barn. He would practice every day with his dad, Dell. Little did he know, he would have two NBA Championship rings by 2017.
Curry is one of the most unselfish players to hit the court. He goes out of his way to meet with young fans. He has signed thousands and thousands of items of merchandise. He visits local hospitals and talks with fans. He has surprised fans at basketball camps and has held multiple camps for the Jr. NBA. He even has gone to a fan’s house to surprise him for his birthday. Parents think of Steph as being a great role model for kids.
He proves over and over again on the court why he is a two-time MVP. From his three-pointers to his footwork, he will forever be one of the best basketball players. He amazes people all over the world and will continue to do so. He will continue to pound his chest and point to the sky. He will continue to surprise fans and children all over the world. He will continue to drain 3’s like he’s playing his last game. He will continue to be the most unselfish person, and he will continue to feel the adrenaline.
