Small Groups/Individual Sessions
Small Groups: I meet with students in small groups focused on specific needs (i.e., friendship, worries, divorce, study skills). Small groups will be held if there is a need for them. These students I will meet with on a recurring basis for 6-8 weeks. If I meet with students for small groups, you will receive a permission slip due to the risk of confidentiality not being kept with other students in the group.
Individual Sessions: I also can meet individually with students on a just once or twice as-needed basis, or for up to 8 weeks. Common reasons that I meet with students include anxiety/worries, grief, conflict resolution, goal setting, working through changes at home, emotion regulation, etc. Permission slips are not given for individual lessons or classroom lessons.
Classroom Lessons
Each Month I go into K-5 classrooms for a character ed. lesson. Lesson themes follow our character traits other than a couple of months that focus on bullying prevention and career awareness. I will overview what we are talking about in classroom lessons in my monthly newsletter. View the Partnering at Home tab above for ideas of how to reinforce and continue each month's topics at home.
I also sometimes visit classrooms to observe the teachers classroom management, provide extra support, and connect with students.
