The summer reading assignment for incoming ninth grade students is read one book from the Ninth Grade List (use the Book Explorer below to access the ninth grade list) that is by or about someone who is different from you in one meaning way. This could be race, ability, sexual orientation, where they live in the world. Before the first day of school, complete the Ninth Grade Summer Reading survey. You will complete your summer reading assignment in an advisory activity in the beginning of the school year.
The summer reading assignment for incoming tenth-twelfth graders is to read one book that stretches your reading interests into an area that you Personal Media Audit identified as place to explore. Don't worry, you will receive that audit results again by email in case you cannot find the email from May. Places to look for book recommendations: The Book Explorer (below), Best Books of the 21st Century (So Far), The Economists Best Books of 2024. You can even let the internet help you. If you want to stretch into science fiction this summer, search up "best science fiction books of all time" or "best science fiction books by African authors." You get the idea. Before the first day of school, complete the Upper School Summer Reading survey. You will complete your summer reading assignment in an advisory activity in the beginning of the school year.
