All 5th Graders and 6th graders:

You should choose at least THREE  titles from this list to read. (Of course, we hope you will read many more than three books over the summer!)

In the fall, your teachers will ask you to write about your selections. 

7th Grade

For your English class, read the following title:

• The Absolutely True Diary of a Part-Time Indian  by Sherman Alexie

8th Grade

For your history class, read one of the following four titles:

• Hiroshima by John Hersey

• Bomb by Steve Sheinkin

• The Port Chicago 50 by Steve Sheinkin

• Farewell to Manzanar by Jeanne Wakatsuki Houston and James D. Houston

Complete this book cover assignment, due on the first day of 8th grade history class.

In addition to your class requirement (7th grade English or 8th grade history), you should choose at least two titles from the list below to read. (Of course, we hope you will read many more than two books over the summer!)
