Scouting activities are diverse, age-appropriate, and always an opportunity to learn something, gain new skills, and have a good time as a family.
The Arrow of Light ceremony honors your Cub Scouts when they complete the requirements to earn the highest rank in Cub Scouting. The Arrow of Light is also the only Cub Scout badge that can be worn on the Scouts BSA uniform.
This is an event just for the AOLs and their families that is typically held on a Friday evening in February before the Blue & Gold Banquet. The AOLs officially earn their Arrow of Light and are ready to cross over to a Troop.
Date: Friday, February 24, 2023

The Blue & Gold Banquet in February is our annual celebration of scouting and is one of the highlights of the program year. It brings together our pack families for a dinner and an evening of fun. We celebrate scouting and wish the AOL's good luck in Scouts BSA as this is their last event with the Pack. Representatives from the Troops that AOLs are joining attend and the AOLs crossover the bridge having their neckerchiefs changed over. The meal is important, but even more important is the warm, congenial atmosphere created as families enjoy each other's company.
Here’s what Scouting.org has to say: Most Cub Scouts celebrate Scouting Anniversary Week in February with a “birthday party” called the blue and gold banquet… It brings families together for an evening of fun and cheer. It’s often the pack meeting for February. Blue and gold banquets are a tradition within packs, celebrating the leaders and parents who volunteer to make Cub Scouting fantastic. Sometimes former pack members return to blue and gold banquets. Often special Scouting or community leaders are invited to attend or speak to Cub Scouts in attendance. Some packs also use the banquet as a chance to celebrate the accomplishments of Scouts, themselves. A pack meeting can be used to host a blue and gold banquet. But sometimes the banquet is a separate event. One misconception is that blue and gold banquets are intended to celebrate the Boy Scouts of America’s birthday (Feb. 8). And while the BSA’s birthday may be an additional reason to host the banquet, the theme of the day is celebrating the pack’s anniversary and everyone involved in making Scouting possible for members of the pack. There’s no lack of clarity on this, however: blue and gold banquets, from small to large, bring on creative decor, exciting entertainment, and delicious food. The months of planning that go into a successful blue and gold banquet are the perfect time to scour Pinterest and Instagram for kids’ party inspiration.

Once or twice a month each den will have a meeting. Dens use this time to work toward their achievements, try new things and have fun. Den meetings are typically on Thursday evenings at Grace Presbyterian Church.
As part of working towards achievements, our dens regularly go on field trips to local businesses, museums, parks or government buildings.
In July and August, Magness Adventure Camp is the Cub Scout Resident Camp facility in Elbert for the Denver Area Council, Boy Scouts of America. With a beautiful lake, archery, tomahawk, and BB Gun ranges, canoes, paddle boats, crafts, nature and outstanding facilities, Magness provides the Cub Scout camping adventure for Scouts of all ages! It’s a great way to get a jump start on requirements, belt loops, and pins!
There are multiple three day sessions that you can attend between June and July. While you can attend any session that works best for your family, the Pack will organize one session. We try to coordinate as many as possible to attend the same session as attending with friends is another thing that makes Magness memorable.
Magness is a family camp, so bring everyone if you like. If you have a child entering Kindergarten in the Fall, they can attend as a Lion! At least one parent or guardian is required to attend with every scout.

We meet monthly as a pack (all dens and families). The meetings are usually held on the 4th Thursday at 7pm at Grace Presbyterian Church. Typically, we have a theme that our activities are centered around.
In May, we have a Spring pack campout at Chatfield State Park. This is often the first camping experience for the Cubs. We make it special with camp fires, good camp food, hiking, games, and other activities. As the Scouts go through the program, they have more opportunities to go camping with their den. As Cub Scouts, camping is a family event. Our 2022 Packout included almost 100 Scouts, family and friends!
Date: Friday, May 5 to Sunday, May 7, 2023
Location: Chatfield State Park, 11500 N Roxborough Park Rd, Littleton, CO 80125
The Pinewood Derby is one of the most popular events in Cub Scouting. The annual Pinewood Derby races are held during our January pack meeting. Every year more than a million Scouts and parents team up to carve, decorate, weigh, adjust, fret over, and finally race a Pinewood Derby car. It is a racing event for Cub Scouts only, where cub scouts have to make their own race cars from an official kit containing a block of pine, plastic wheels and four metal axles.
The race track is a professional 6 lane aluminum track with computerized timing. All Cars are raced once on all tracks to ensure fairness of timings as lanes can vary.
A software application called Derby Master is used to log, manage and compute race results. Winners are chosen by rank and from the best average time of all races.
There are strict rules regarding the construction of the car to ensure that all cars follow the same specifications. There are thousands of designs, tips, tricks and best practices that can be found in books or on the internet.
Pinewood Derby is Pack 872's January Pack Meeting.

Pack 872 has only one fundraiser during the year to provide funds for our activities. The annual Scout Popcorn Sale provides an opportunity for Scouts to “help the pack go” and have some fun too. This fundraiser starts in late August and goes through November.
What is it?
Scout Popcorn is the main fundraiser for Pack 872. It is what drives the Pinewood Derby, puts the "bling" on your uniforms and so much more! And our pack keeps about a third of the total sales of popcorn. Another third goes to support Denver area programs.
Why do I do it?
Selling popcorn helps our scouts learn important people skills, builds confidence and forms friendships. It is also the BEST opportunity parents have to offset your annual dues.
How do I do it?
Door-To-Door - Sell to your friends, neighbors, parents' co-workers and everyone you know! We take orders AND payments for their popcorn and deliver it to them at a later date.
Show and Sell - These sales are made in front of grocery stores or other area partners. We offer immediate delivery of their popcorn. We have all of the stores lined up and the details are worked out. Now all we need is YOU!
Online - We have a link to get you set up to reach out to your friends and family who live far away so they can support you too!
A service project in conjunction with 9 News that collects food to benefit local food banks.
