Love Has No Gender
The fight against Heterosexism by Kalen
The fight against Heterosexism by Kalen
Heterosexism is the prejudiced hatred, judgment, or actions against any non-heterosexual behavior, identity, relationship, or community. Culture and environments that disown those who identify as being a homosexual may result to violence and overall harassment. This social discrimination starts with the minds of children. By educating children at a young age, they can learn to accept diversity and change into their lives.
With careful and respectful education about the uprising culture for pride, heterosexism can become denormalized to create a happier, open, acceptance idea of love.
Hi everyone my name is Kalen Kobashigawa and I am currently a Junior. I am from Oahu, Hawaii, and I am majoring in Psychology with a minor in Communications in Sciences and Disorders. I am looking to be a future Audiologist. By taking this class, I have learned a lot about how social discrimination develops from within our culture. This project helped me learn how to educate children properly so they don't essentialize people into categories. Single narratives, culture, and environments are a big reason why social discrimination develop at such a young age. Children are not born racist, they learn it . I think it is important for everyone to take this class especially if you're looking into working with people.
