Welcome to the Pacific coast academy Parent Testing Resources Website!
Here you can find information about the assessments that our school offers to its students. We hope to partner with parents to help students be as successful as possible. We hope you find the resources on this website helpful to increase your understanding of the assessments we give and empower you to prepare your child as they come upon these tests during their educational career.
CAASPP and ELPAC testing CAN be completed REMOTELY, as long as your student does not require in-person supports!
Test Definitions
STAR 360: Online Reading and Math Assessment - grades TK-11
ELPAC: English Language Proficiency Assessments for California - grades TK-12 until Reclassified as English Proficient
PFT: California Physical Fitness Test - grades 5, 7, and 9
CAASPP: (California Assessments of Student Performance and Progress) The CAASPP assessment system includes SBAC, CAST, and CAA. - see below for specific grade levels
SBAC: (Smarter Balanced Assessment Consortium) California state tests in language arts and math. - grades 3-8 and 11
CAST: California Science Test - grades 5, 8 and once in High School - typically the student's last year of science grades 10, 11, or 12.
CAA: (California Alternate Assessments) Alternate assessments are available for ELA, Math, and Science. - grades 3-8 and 11. Science is grades 5, 8 and once in High School - typically the student's last year of science grades 10, 11, or 12.
Why are tests important?
Taking tests is an important life skill.
Tests can give information that can help guide instruction.
Tests can show how children have improved over time.
Improvement in test scores can help in our school's charter renewal process and WASC accreditation.
Grade level and school progress reports help our school make decisions on how best to support you and your students.
