CAASPP is an umbrella term and has three distict parts underneath:
Smarter Balanced Assessments (SBAC) - Consists of 4 tests (2 ELA and 2 Math) and outlined in the video above. These tests are proctored by our wonderful HSTs and takes about 4 half days to complete.
Science Test (CAST) - Additional test in addtion to the SBAC tests only for 5, 8th, and 11th graders
Spanish Assessment- Not required for most students
Students with the most significant cognitive disabilities may be assessed using the California Alternate Assessments (CAAs) if it has been specified in their individualized education program (IEP).
CDE Guidance regarding SBAC Dashboard Update
As you know, public schools are required to test 95% of students on the SBAC. This is especially important to charter schools, that are dependent on their Dashboard scores to show chartering districts that they are continuing to provide quality academics and programs to their students.
