About the CAST (Science)
What is the CAST? The CAST is the California Science Test, a part of the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress (CAASPP) system. It measures students' knowledge and skills based on the California Next Generation Science Standards (CA NGSS)
Which Grades Take the CAST? Students in grades five and eight, and once during high school.
How Long is the CAST? The test is designed to take approximately two hours, but it is an untimed test.
What kind of questions are on the test? The CAST uses a variety of question types, including: Multiple choice, Multiple select, Two-way tables, Fill-in-the-blank, Snippet Select, and Free Entry.
