Mixed Media is an intermediate level course at Pacifica. Students work with a variety of medium to explore 2D and 3D design.
Four different projects are represented in the gallery this year:
Project 1 - Paper collage landscapes - students used magazine pages to represent images that they had taken - essentially painting with collage
Project 2 - Mixed Media Collage - students worked on abstract collages, using paper, paint, and adding in layers of other materials
Project 3 - Light & Shadow - students created works using only white bristol paper and adhesive. They were offered the opportunity to create scenes from photos or to create a sculpture as we moved towards 3D at the end of 1st semester
Project 4 - Modular Sculpture - Now that the students have worked with collage - moving from representative to abstract, and 2D to 3D, they are creating abstract sculpture by creating modules from found objects. Those modules are repeated and formed into sculpture.
