God over my life and all that lies ahead,

I come to you for guidance;

Lead me, Lord.

Loving God, good God, kind God,

You know what is best for me.

As I walk through each day of my life with you near,

You are working all things together for good.

Still, I feel my desire to put control and comfort first;

To make decisions from fear, from pride,

From my own selfish reasons.

Let me choose not from these,

But from a heart being formed to be like yours.

Be the motive that guides my steps, oh Lord.

Let me see my choices through your eyes.

Lead me on a path that is good not only for me,

But for those around me and the world you’ve created.

Show me how to join you:

In doing good and making things new;

In loving and welcoming people;

In reflecting you to the world.

Help me know myself, as you have made me,

That I may choose what makes sense for who I am.

Help me know my tendencies,

So I might avoid their dangers.

Help me listen wisely to my community,

So I may hear your guidance in their words.

Give me patience,

Remembering that every decision is a process.

Give me courage,

Trusting that you can overcome the barriers I see.

Give me confidence,

So that even when there may be many good choices,

I can move forward, knowing that you are able to direct and redirect my way.

I know you are making ready the path you have for me.

Let me trust that each step I take, you will go with me.

Let me trust in your goodness to me and the wisdom of your ways.

God over all possibilities,

May I make each choice, big or small, in pursuit of you

That they may add up to a life that brings you glory.
