What is "SAKURA"?
SAKURA is Cube Sat, a microsatellite started in July 2022 and developed by students of Chiba Institute of Technology having technical backgrounds and unique characteristics.
Also, SAKURA is an educational project in order to develop high-level engineers by the Planetary Exploration Research Center (PERC).
Origin of Name
Origin of Name
Sakura means cherry blossom in English. Wild cherry wood is a strong material with little warping or distortion, and its strength is tenacious.It is also highly durable and resistant to insects and other harmful elements, making it a material that is easy to preserve.
The satellite SAKURA was named in the hope that the satellite would be sturdy and have the beauty of cherry blossoms.
