Course Description:
Welcome to Keyboarding! Learning the keyboard (typing) is now more than ever a survival skill in our world of computer technology, and Ozark Middle School students are making great strides in preparing themselves for this age of technology. Seventh grade students will learn how to manage files, create reports, write memos, send email with attachments, create tables and outlines, type business correspondents, and learn many features of Microsoft Word. Students will use Microsoft Word to create documents in correct form with no error. This course is designed to teach the communication part of keyboarding. Every lesson contains exercises and examples of how to properly create business documents. Students are also encouraged to meet speed and accuracy goals. The purpose of these exercises is to familiarize students with ways we communicate in the business world. Students are expected to complete lessons 26-60 in 7th grade keyboarding using Microsoft Word on each computer in the Room 12 Computer lab. Students will also be expected to use proper keyboarding techniques and will be evaluated on this as well as complete lessons in the Applied Computer Keyboarding book provided. All Keyboarding books are to remain in the classroom and are the property of Ozark Middle School.
Necessary Materials:
Each day you need to bring your 2- pocket folder to class. This folder is a place to keep your syllabus, Keyboarding Assignment Chart, and typing successes.
Pencil/highlighter to mark off assignments as you finish them.
Grading Policy:
I plan to give points every day. These points can be lost by breaking any of the class rules (listed below), using improper keyboarding techniques, or at my discretion. Keyboarding lessons and tests will also make up part of the grade.
Mrs. Wimberly's Classroom Rules:

2. Be polite and respectful. This means: be nice to your classmates and teacher, do your work in a timely and efficient manner, and take good care of school equipment and property.
3. Follow all Ozark Middle School behavior guidelines.
BEHAVIOR PLAN:
1. Verbal warning for the first offense.
2. Verbal warning and/or time out; one-on-one private conversation with
the teacher on second offense.
3. Contact parents/principal on further offenses.
You are responsible for any work that was missed during an absence. If you have been absent, please talk to me at the beginning of class so that I can help you catch up.
