Rio Mesa will be hosting our Hispanic Heritage spirit days starting next Monday, October 6th.  We hope you can participate next week and show your spirit!

ASBers will come around 2nd period just like we did for HC week and count the # of participants.  The 2nd period class with the most participants will earn a class prize.

Activities coming up this month: Our ASB Freshmen are planning the  Pumpkin Decorating and Halloween Contest! ASB will have some pumpkins free of charge if you are truly interested in entering the contest.  The contest will be on October 29th during lunch. Our Halloween Contest will take place on Friday, Oct 31st during lunch as well. As a reminder while planning your school appropriate costume:

1. You cannot wear any type of gang-related clothing or costumes.

2. You cannot wear anything that promotes hate or violence to any particular group of people.

3. You cannot wear anything that promotes the use of alcohol or drugs.

4. You cannot wear anything that emphasizes or displays specific parts of the human body.

5. You cannot display or possess replicas of any weapons, dangerous instruments nor can you wear any type of mask.

Foodfest will be this Friday, Sept 26th from 1:00-1:30pm.  School gates will open at 1:25 for students to load buses.  Please support our school clubs and purchase items from their table. We will share a list of items being sold on Wednesday so you can plan accordingly.

Students: if you have not picked up your school ID, make your way to the office so you can get it. 

Next week ASB will host Club Rush on Wednesday Sept 3rd and Thursday, Sept 4th during lunch. All of the school approved clubs will be around the quad sharing information about their clubs.  We offer 2 days of club rush so that you can chat to the Club reps and ask questions about meeting times, requirements or expectations. Please stop by and check out clubs that you are interested in joining--joining a club helps students to create new friendships.

On Thursday and Friday, we will be having HC nominations.  Each student will have the opportunity to nominate up to 2 students from their grade only.  Once nominations are tallied, the students with the most nominations will be notified and will need to accept the nomination in order to be placed on the final voting ballot. As a reminder, for the final voting ballot, all students will get to vote for the Sr Court. For Freshmen-Juniors, the HC court will be made up of the top 3 students; the Sr Court will be made up of 5 students total, 3 Sr Court members and 2 Royals. 

Once the nominations are confirmed, there will be another meeting with the nominees to discuss promotion guidelines and expectations. 

Guest passes will be ready for pick up starting Sept 3rd and will be due Sept 17th. Dance tickets will go on sale starting Sept 8th-19th.  Sales will end on Friday, Sept 19th at nutrition. 

Congratulations to the Senior class for earning class points during our Welcome Back Rally, and to our Senior, Mikey Estrada who earned points today for the Freshmen Class during our lunch time activity. We also had Aaron Mathis, a freshman, who earned points for our Sophomore class during our lunch time rivalry game. Way to represent each other, Spartans! 

If you have not picked up your school ID, please do so at the Attendance windows. If you missed your picture day, your last opportunity with Monarch photography will be September 9th.  Re-takes are $5 and you must turn in your old ID to the photographers. 

Students will be nominating up to 2 students for the Class Court. The top top students will be notified and after they accept the nomination, you will be placed on the final ballot.  The top 3 students will make up our HC Court. Seniors are awarded 2 additional, with 3 Court and 2 Royal for a total of 5 for the senior class.

Freshmen nominees should have  academics & attendance; 10th-12th students, 2.0 GPA is required for previous academic year.

Be involved in the RMHS community.

Nominations will be Thursday and Friday Sept 4th and 5th and you can only nominate students from your own grade level. Once final the ballot is released, all grade levels can vote for the Sr HC Royal Court.

We have a busy week next week, Spartans! Our Welcome Back Rally is on Wednesday, August 27th--come ready to participate in rally games and cheer on your classmates in a variety of performances.

August 28th- we will host our Club Cabinet mtg and Club Advisor Mtg during lunch. Club Cab members in room 100 and Advisors in room 101

Don't forgot to take advantage of the ASB card packages in order to save $$ throughout the year!  Check out our Spartan Spirit Store in order to purchase yours today! The Spartan  Bundle that includes a yearbook is only good until the end of August! Don't wait until the end of the year as prices will increase. 

Freshmen! ID photos will be on Wednesday, August 20th in room for 103 in WC. You will be scheduled to go with your teachers. More information to follow on Tuesday. 

ID cards will be handed out the next week. If you have already purchased your ASB card, don't forget to stop by the ASB window, located across room 40 to get your ASB stamp from Mrs. Erickson. Standard $50 card receives 1 stamp and the Stellar and Family card will receive 2 stamps. 

ASB will have their first fundraiser with Lalo's Ice-cream truck on August 29th! And every Friday after that! Please be mindful and respectful when standing in line to order. No one likes line-cutters!
