Student Support at RCHS

These are some of the services provided at RCHS for students seeking support.

If you’re interested in hearing more about any of these services, or just want to say “hi,” I would love to chat with you. Please fill out the Google form below, email me at caroline.gonella@oxnardunion.org, or set up your own Google Meet appointment via Calendly.

Another great resource to check out is my #Monarchstrong Google classroom, available to all RCHS students. I post counseling content, articles, and other resources there and it's a great place to engage with your classmates too.

Group Counseling

    • Depending on the needs/interests of students at RCHS, I’ve facilitated counseling groups to work on coping with anxiety, mindfulness, etc.

    • This is also something informally offered through my Google classroom, #monarchstrong, where I post videos about different mental health topics and teach various counseling strategies. Any student can enroll and participate in the classroom. During distance learning, this has been especially helpful for students as they can access the content anytime and participate as they choose.

Individual Counseling

    • Meeting w/ students for 6-8 weeks to work on a goal/issue such as lack of coping skills, managing academic stress, or grieving a loss. During distance learning, I can schedule Google Meet appointments. Email me for more information.

    • Sometimes students are just having a tough day and need to stop by to vent, process, and return to class. Sometimes we see each other again and discuss further, sometimes we just wave in the quad and they never need to see me again. You don’t have to have a diagnosis or a “serious mental health problem” to access me and my services. I’m here for ALL students.

Crisis Intervention

    • Sometimes, I help students who are experiencing a mental health crisis such as feeling suicidal. Having these thoughts/feelings is scary, but my job is to keep you safe and get you support so you feel better. There’s no shame in having or expressing these feelings, in fact we WANT you to reach out to trusted adults when you feel this way so we can help. You’ll never be in trouble or disciplined for this, it’s our job to support YOU and your mental health. At school, if you or a friend are experiencing these thoughts, please seek help from a trusted adult on campus. If you’re home, there are several crisis text/phone numbers you can contact…
