OPD Case 78-08292 - The murder of Carlos Chavoya

In May 1978, 31-year old Carlos Chavoya and his friend were both shot in the 100 block of East Seventh St. at the Nopalito Cafe. Chavoya died as a result of his injuries and the friend survived his injuries. The surviving victim identified the shooter by the nickname of "Pajaro". "Pajaro" was in the company of "Golondrino" and Antonio Carrillo when the shooting occurred. "Pajaro" fled Oxnard for Los Angeles after the shooting.

The only known information was that "Pajaro" was married to a woman named Cathy and they had two male children. The family lived in the 5200 block of Squires Dr., Oxnard.

If you have any information regarding the whereabouts of "Pajaro" aka: Mario Ceja, please contact the Oxnard Police Department at (805) 385-8174 or coldcase@oxnardpd.org.
