The Ohio Wesleyan University's Summer Bridge program recently held its first outdoor adventure in collaboration with the Public Safety Department. Summer Bridge Scholars and Mentors enjoyed tent camping, cooking over a campfire, and hiking by the lakeside at the picturesque Mt. Gilead State Park. This experience provided opportunities to bond with classmates, meet a few upperclassmen, and connect with OMSA Assistant Director Valentina Moran, Director of Public Safety Sean Bolender, and Assistant Director of Public Safety Christopher Mickens.

For many Scholars and Mentors, this adventure offered activities they had never experienced, including eating wild blackberries discovered while hiking. Students had the chance to win or be selected to receive outdoor gear, including towel sets, hammocks, and a hiking backpack. These items were intended to encourage outdoor enjoyment and help address financial access issues.
