The Hankison Lab uses an integrative approach to study how animal behavior, especially reproductive behavior, influences evolution. Among the techniques used are behavioral observations, population genetics, reprodutive physiology, and more.

U.S. sailfin molly (Poecilia latipinna)

The sailfin molly is a livebearing, poeciliid fish native to the coastal waters of the southeaster United States. Related to fishes like guppies and swordtails, mollies are an amazing system allowing comparisons within and between populations and among different molly species.
