Mr. Ricketts has introduced a wonderful new resource to OWN -- Empatico.org
An initiative of The Kind Foundation, Empatico.org pairs up classrooms from around the world to have meaningful live interactions. The website provides a built-in live video tool, as well as quite a number of prepared activities that promote global awareness and the Empatico Skills (Perspective Taking, Critical Thinking, Respectful Communication, and Cooperation).
Ms. Romano's Empatico.org meeting with a Florida class
Class 1-204 participated in an Empatico.org videoconference with a First Grade classroom in Florida. They spoke about a wide variety of topics including the current weather and their respective Math activities. The highlight of the meeting was learning about the Therapy Dog that visits the Florida class every Friday.
