Student Skills

This topic is ideal for the beginning or middle of the year, in order to learn about the keyboard, trackpad, and practice skills. 


  • Lesson 1: Students learn names and functions of the keyboard.

  • Lesson 2: Students are introduced to the Home Row and keys.

  • Lesson 3: Students practice typing in an assignment. 

  • Lesson 4: Students learn and practice trackpad skills. 

  • Topic Task: Students practice of skills from the topic lessons.


Continued typing practice is important for students throughout the year. Recommended that students engage with these lessons, as well as practice using TypingClub.com. Practice for 10-15 minutes a few times a week can make a difference and give students more confidence and familiarity with using their Chromebook.
