Given OSS' commitment to providing resources for engaging experiences, it's important for students to be present and on time. Unexcused absences will result in a $10 fee charged to a student's account for each day missed.

OSS at CBC
When: Monday, June 15-Wednesday, June 17, 2026 from 9am–3pm
Where: Community Boating Center – 1641 Padanaram Ave, New Bedford (families drop off and pick up at CBC)
Maximum number of students per session: 30
Description: Celebrate Old Friends & New Beginnings! The Community Boating Center and Our Sisters’ School are coming together for activities during which we will explore our ocean and local area. This is a 3-day OSS-specific adventure. Students may be sailing, rowing, kayaking, or paddle-boarding, including an afternoon for your family to join us, and may include a couple of day trips.
Requires registration with CBC: To secure your spot, be sure to follow the registration requirements Ms. Sanders will share with families via email.
Cartoon Lab
When: June 22-26
Time: 9am - 12pm
Where: OSS - 145 Brownell Ave, New Bedford

Description: Come and create characters, environments and more! We will explore different character designs, styles and forms of cartooning, including anime, newspaper cartoons, graphic novels. We will develop our own stories that you can depict with your new skills. Get your creativity on and come and draw with us!
Cape Verdean Culture Exploration
When: Monday, June 29th - Friday, July 3rd
Time: 1-4pm

Description: Join us for a week of exploring Cape Verdean culture. Together, we will dive into learning about the country’s language, people, dance, art, food, and each island’s individual characteristics through games, research and hands-on activities. This program will run Monday - Friday with an opportunity to participate in the Cape Verdean Recognition Day Parade on Sunday, July 5th. The program is open to students of all backgrounds!
Garden Care
When: Tuesdays, June 30, July 7, July 14, July 21, July 28, August 4, August 11 from 9am-noon
Where: OSS - 145 Brownell Ave, New Bedford

Description: Come connect with the earth, learn to grow and eat from the garden, explore native habitats, create arts and crafts, make new friends, and spend summer days outdoors. This program focuses on the care and upkeep of the OSS gardens throughout the summer. Tasks will include planting, weeding, and harvesting. Students should be ready to haul soil, get dirty and eat weird and wonderful plants! Nurture a life-long appreciation of the outdoors, build healthy habits, and support OSS in maintaining our beautiful, thriving garden.
SPARK: TEACHING MENTORS

Description: Help run our “OSS Style” Summer Program in Art and STEAM by working with grade 3 and 4 students. You will support students as they practice as artists and engineers. You will help them use their DESIGN skills to explore, invent, create and make in our outdoor classroom. We will build knowledge and skills — with a focus on creativity, critical thinking, and problem solving. Includes a snack.
Outdoor Science Explorers

Description: Take on the role of a summer scientist as we transform our outdoor classroom into a research hub. You’ll get your hands dirty in the garden, observe plants and animals in the nearby stream, create explosive experiments, and maybe even crack open a geode. Join us to sharpen your observation skills and have some scientific fun, all while enjoying the great outdoors!
Sol y Español (Sun & Spanish)

Description: Come play, move, sing, and learn as we explore the basics of Spanish together. Students will discover new words, greetings, and everyday phrases through exciting games, music, hands-on activities, and cultural adventures. Whether you’re saying your first Spanish word or already know a few, this program is a great way to build confidence, make friends, and enjoy learning something new in a lively summer setting.
Crafty Corner

Description: In this hands-on program, students will explore different crafts and artistic projects such as junk journaling, beginner crochet, and other creative activities. We may work with materials like string, paper, water-based art supplies, and plenty of recycled treasures to turn everyday items into something amazing. Each session will encourage imagination, experimentation, and trying new ideas in a fun, relaxed environment where creativity leads the way.

Description: Unleash your inner artist this summer! In this program you will experiment, get a little messy, and discover exciting new ways to express yourself. Every day brings a fresh opportunity to create something totally unique as you dive into a variety of fun mediums, including bracelet making, classic gimp, painting, eco-friendly crafting with found materials, blendable pastels, and more! Whether you're an avid doodler or just looking for a fun new hobby, absolutely no prior art experience is required; simply bring your imagination and a willingness to explore!
Music Jam
When: Monday, July 20 – Friday, July 24
Time: 9am–12pm

Students will need to bring their instrument.
Description: This program focuses on musicians having the opportunity to learn to play together. We’ll explore different genres of music and have some fun playing with them. Students may play any instrument they are comfortable with. In addition to playing their instrument, students will learn more about elements of music, collaboration, writing and lyrics. Students do not need to be able to read music, but need a basic understanding about their instrument so they may add to the musical discussion. Family members are encouraged to attend the musical performance on Friday at 11:30am.
Sketchy GO ichie DRAW!
When: Monday, July 27 - Friday, July 31
Time: 1pm – 4pm

Description: Sketchy GO ichie DRAW! is a fun, hands-on digital art and rendering workshop where students create vibrant artwork using iPads and Procreate. Led by professional illustrators, each session builds creative skills in a supportive, inclusive environment. All materials, including iPads, are provided, and students’ finished pieces are shared online for families to view and save.
Y.O.U. 2026
When: We’re awaiting the dates for this summer! You can share interest in this program and then our Summer Programs Office will be in touch with you when we have more information and guide you in Y.O.U. 's registration process.
Where: Y.O.U. Warming House, 224 Brock Avenue, New Bedford (families drop off and pick up at Y.O.U.)
Maximum number of students per session: OSS has 8 scholarship spots available. Students may sign up for the session (once available) that best fits their family’s schedule.
Description: Students will bike along local bike paths, swim and snorkel at local beaches, play games, participate in sports, visit historical landmarks throughout the city of New Bedford, learn about local ecosystems, create arts and crafts, and grow fresh food!
Math Support
Students will have an opportunity to improve their math skills through activities and games.
