Transitions are the moves children and young people make from home to nursery, from stage to stage and through Curriculum for Excellence levels. Transitions are part of everyone’s life.
When transitions work well they help children and young people to develop confidence and acquire skills to manage future changes in their lives.
The vast majority of children and young people look forward to moving on in learning and in life. For some children transitions can be challenging and support from parents and staff at school can help the transitions go more smoothly.
Here at Whitecrook we work closely with our feeder nurseries and nurseries outwith to provide monthly visits to our school to take part in stimulating and fun activities planned with our Early Years partners.
Our upper school buddies are trained to support your child with their transition and provide a friendly face in the dining hall and playground.
Please do not hesitate to get in touch with Miss McGill for any further information about our transition events.
Your child will usually transfer from primary school to secondary school between the ages of 11 and 12. Whitecrook Primary School is associated with Clydebank High School Most children attend the secondary school associated with their primary school however, if you would like your child to attend a different Secondary School, more information on a placing request can be found on the West Dunbartonshire website.
