Transition Visits - Information

Primary 1 – Induction Programme

We are looking forward to welcoming you and your child to St. Eunan’s Primary School.

Currently we are preparing for your child to start school with us in August. To ease this transition we have arranged some dates for all children to have the opportunity to visit their new classroom and meet their new teacher. You can follow us on twitter: @StEunan and check the website regularly for updates and information.  

If your child currently attends St.Eunan’s ELCC, the nursery staff will bring your child through to school for these transition events. 

If your child does not currently attend St.Eunan’s ELCC, we would ask that you bring your child to the school on each of the following dates. 

The induction dates are:

• Thursday 22nd  February (13:30 - 14:30) – During this session, your child will meet some of the Primary 1 staff. This visit will have a Play focus. 

• Thursday 14th March (13:30 – 14:30) – During this session, your child will meet some of the Primary 1 staff. This visit will have a Health & Wellbeing focus.

• Thursday 25th April (09:30 – 10:20) Children will visit the Primary 1 Classrooms and meet staff who they will work with in Primary 1. This visit will have a Numeracy focus.

• Thursday 16th May (09:30 - 10:20) – Children will visit the Primary 1 Classrooms and meet staff who they will work with in Primary 1. This visit will have a Literacy focus.  

• Thursday 6th June (13:30 – 14:30) – Children will spend time in their Primary 1 classroom with their Primary 1 friends and teacher.  

For each of these transition visits, please ensure that your child is in comfortable clothing. Depending on the weather, any of these transition dates could include an element of outdoor learning.

Your child will be allocated a buddy from Primary 7 with whom they will spend time with throughout their Primary 1 year. Over the transition visits, we will organise opportunities for your child to meet with their buddy for activities. Your child will meet their buddy on the first of the transition visits.

We will be in touch soon to share with you some of the operational needs of the school and an outline will be given of what your child will cover in Primary 1.
